In our initial NFL betting guide, we reviewed how to read odds, what were Moneyline bets, Spread Betting, Futures, and Totals. Each bet has its own purpose and way of betting, for example, a futures bet is when you bet on something that will happen at a later date, an example of this is betting at the start of the season who will win the Super Bowl.

Now we will examine different types of betting that require you to bet live or during the game. These bets often change variables while the game is taking place, so you must be quick to place these bets before the odds turn against you.

Once you have become accustomed to the previous kinds of betting which are more straight- forward you can explore these other options. So, let’s examine these other NFL betting options that you can place during a game.

Live NFL Betting

In Live NFL Betting, you can place a bet during the game, even after the game has started. The odds and lines will change as the game progresses, but you can bet on all available props in real-time. You can also do drive bets, which is for how a team will do in a specific play, example if in the next play the Quarterback will throw a bad pass, or the pass will be a touchdown.

The odds for Live betting change depending on how much time is left in a game and how the game is progressing, if it’s a tight game the odds will be more closer if it’s a blowout it will be wider. Live betting is not good for beginners, it’s important to learn from the previous type of betting before doing live wagers.

NFL Game and Player Props Betting

NFL prop betting is a game within the game, as many bettors wager on events that don’t have anything to do with the outcome of the game. For example, a prop bet would be that in a given game:

X player will run Over/Under 199.9 yards.

The wager would be that this player will run over/under 200 yards in this game. If you bet under and he runs 250 yards you lose your bet.

Other types of prop bets are:

Quarterback O/U Passing Yards
Running back O/U Rushing Yards
Wide Receiver O/U Receiving Yards
First Touchdown Scorer
Anytime Touchdown Scorer

NFL betting Parlays

A parlay is when you make multiple picks like a moneyline, spread, or totals. You pick various winners in different games and it is all in one single ticket. In order to win your parlay, you need to win all the games you picked. If you get 2 out of 3 bets right, then you lose your bet.

NFL Betting Teasers

NFL Teaser bets are a way of adjusting the point spread to be more in the bettor’s favor. (Getty)

NFL Teaser bets are a way of adjusting the point spread to be more in the bettor’s favor. In this case, you would need to hit all your bets to win your ticket, but you can adjust the preset spread or totals from the sportsbook to lower your risk.

Teaser bets often start at around 6 points and can be as high as 15 points depending on the online sports betting site. An example of a teaser bet:

Two-Team Parlay – Opening Spreads
Pittsburgh Steelers vs Miami Dolphins – Pittsburgh -4
Philadelphia Eagles vs Seattle Seahawks – Eagles +6

Let’s say you like Pittsburgh -4.0 and Philadelphia. +6.0, but think that the Steelers will win by only a field goal or the Eagles might lose by a touchdown, you can pair the games together and now the Steelers will be +3.0 and Eagles +13.0. Now any win by the Steelers or a 1- or 2-point loss covers your bet, and your Eagles bet is covered as well. Basically, a teaser is like a parlay bet except you put points down in your favor to help your bet come out as you want it.

These are just some examples of different betting options. Not all options may be right for you, but it is important to become accustomed to the different types of bets. Some are more complex than others. Try your luck and see how it goes.
