Juan Soto reveals his offensive focus for the Mets: ‘I’m not trying to hit homers’

Juan Soto added another home run to his tally with the New York Mets in their series opener against the Twins, contributing to a solid victory for him and a team riding early-season momentum. However, such individual feats might not be the Dominican slugger’s primary focus.

In recent remarks, Soto emphasized a team-oriented approach over personal achievements, stating, “I’m not trying to hit homers at all. We’re trying to play team baseball right here. Whenever I gotta take my walks, I’ll take my walks.” His humble words underscore a clear ambition to go deep with the Mets this year.

Soto also highlighted his desire to contribute alongside his teammates, saying to SNY, “Definitely we’re trying to help either way, but out of it, that’s baseball things gonna happen, we just keep trying out there and do our best.”

Soto’s Home Run Count with Mets So Far

With his latest long ball, Soto now has two home runs for the Mets in the 2025 MLB season, a positive start as he continues to integrate into the team. Beyond the moonshots, he also boasts four RBIs, 12 runs scored, 13 hits, and 14 walks, resulting in a .250 batting average.

While fans might hope to see Soto replicate his stellar home run numbers from his time with the Yankees, where he hit 41, his current pace is respectable.
