The 2020 NBA Draft is just around the corner, which means that every little single thing that the prospects say or do is going to take a toll – whether for the better or worst – on where they get picked next month.
Anthony Edwards has been the consensus first-overall pick for most of the year, but given the unorthodox circumstances of this year’s NBA Draft, he might as well slip, until no further from the top 3.
There is no such thing as a sure pick at this point of the year, so the prospects must do whatever it takes to convince the executives that they’re the guys for them, and that’s why Edwards’ agent may want to have a word with him.
Anthony Edwards Says He Was Already Living In A Pandemic
The thing is that, right after announcing that he was going to sign with Rich Paul and Klutch Sports – which happens to be LeBron James’ agency – he shared the wildest take about the Covid-19 pandemic:
“I feel like the pandemic is nothing to me. I was already living in the pandemic because all I wanted to do is to get better,” the potential first-overall pick said in an interview, prompting a lot of mockery on social media.
Needless to say, it’s clear that Edwards got a little confused and probablywanted to say that he was entirely focused on basketball and getting better, but his choice of words was questionable, to say the least.
Edwards has the upside to be one of the best two-way shooting guards in the league and there’s no doubt that he’s worthy of the risk with a top-3 pick, and this incident isn’t likely to take a toll on his stock.
Then again, you can be sure that these words will define the narrative and memes around him for the first couple of years of his career and, who knows? Maybe they’ll still bring thisup once it’s all said and done.
