Kyrie Irving says he's 'protected by God' against Covid-19

A day doesn’t go by in the NBA if we’re not talking about Kyrie Irving. But, as you may know by now, that rarely has anything to do with basketball. More often than not, the Brooklyn Nets star makes the headlines for everything he does off the court.

It was far from a surprise to know that Kyrie was the leader of a conspiracy theory-led anti-vaccine movement around the NBA. If anything, it was kind of shocking that it took so long until that broke the news.

Now, the former NBA champion continues to stir the pot, sharing a not-so-cryptic message regarding his stance on vaccination. Apparently, he believes a greater force will keep him safe and sound.

“I am protected by God and so are my people. We stand together,” the All-Star guard tweeted.

Steve Nash Confirms Kyrie Won’t Play At Home

Coach Steve Nash confirmed what we already knew: Kyrie won’t be able to suit up and play at Barclays Center unless he’s vaccinated, so he’s expected to miss half of the season and half of his paycheck:

“I think we recognize he’s not playing home games. We’re going to have to for sure play without him this year. So it just depends on when, where and how much,” the sophomore coach said.

Kevin Durant Says He Wants Kyrie To Play Full-Time

Kevin Durant knows that Kyrie’s situation isn’t ideal, especially when you’re trying to build chemistry. Then again, he’ll focus in what he can control and work with the hand he’s been dealt:

“That’s always tough when guys are in and out of the lineup, especially a starter like Kyrie. I don’t know exactly what the plan is going forward right now,” Durant told the media. “I’m sure they’re still making decisions. That’s a better question for Steve (Nash), Sean (Marks), and Kyrie, and they’ll fill me in when they make a decision. I’m going to keep playing and keep focusing on what we’re focusing on in the locker room and once that gets figured out, we move forward.

“At least he can practice, but we want him here for the whole thing. We want him here for games, home games, practices, away games, shootarounds, all of it. So, hopefully, we figure this thing out,” he concluded.

Kyrie won’t change his mind regardless of what people say or the fines or repercussions he can face. Clearly, it’s not a matter of money and winning another NBA championship isn’t at the top of his priorities.
