LeBron James confirms his plans for Bronny and the Lakers

LeBron James recently signed a 2-year, $85 million contract extension that will keep him with the Los Angeles Lakers through 2023. He’ll be almost 39 when his contract runs out and, contrary to most players that age, he could still sign another deal.

James’ commitment to the purple and gold helped them also sign Anthony Davis to a 5-year deal. That guarantees that the Lakers will be a legit contender for many more years to come and he’ll likely win at least another NBA Championship.

However, people speculate that the most important thing about his contract isn’t how much money he got but when he’ll be eligible to become a free agent, as it could coincide with his son’s Bronny’s graduation.

That’s why the media asked The King the question everybody was thinking about. Do you plan to team up with Bronny James once he’s eligible to enter the NBA? Notably, James’ answer didn’t disappoint:

“The best thing about it is the year I’ll be a free agent will be the same year my oldest son graduates high school. So I’ll have some options to see, for me personally, what I want to do forward, being around my family, being around my son more, or continue to play this game I love with great health and great spirits. We’ll see,” James told ESPN.

Bronny James is highly expected to be one of the most sought-after prospects once he’s eligible. He’s already 6’2” and has drawn a lot of praise from scouts, let alone his privileged gene pool and pedigree around the basketball community.

James could simply sign a one-year deal with whichever team that picks Bronny in the NBA Draft to play at least one season with his eldest son before retiring. Then again, it’ll all depend on whether the NBPA and NBA agree to change eligibility rules again to allow players to turn pro straight out of high school.
