Magic Johnson has apparently set his sight on the next superstar that will join the Los Angeles Lakers in the future. LeBron James is still ruling the NBA with Anthony Davis by his side so the next two or three years will be good for the Lakers, who just won their 17th NBA title last Sunday.

However, as great as he is, LeBron won’t beat father time and he’ll eventually slow down and call it a career. When that moment happens, AD will need a new partner in crime and Magic has found it, apparently.

Johnson recently talked about what the Lakers should do next, making it clear that although they’re not worried about the competition, they need to think ahead of time and find a good replacement for LeBron James once he retires.

“Anthony Davis now is known across the world because of the platform of the Lakers. Then, him and LeBron [James] next season, they could repeat,” Johnson said.

“You don’t want to leave here, and not have a guy like LeBron James playing alongside of you because the same thing that happened in New Orleans would happen to Anthony Davis again. They make each other better, and then last but not least, when LeBron retires, he just says, ‘here Anthony Davis, it’s your team now, you go on and lead the Lakers to the next five to six championships.’”

Luka could be the nextstar to join the purple and gold

He then would mention Luka Doncic, inviting him to join the Lakers and create a very dangerous association with Anthony Davis.

“That’s right, Luka come over to the Lakers, I like that, I like that,” Johnson said.

Seeing how good things are going for them now, the Lakers wouldn’t have any problem luring good players. They did it last year with AD and the results didn’t take long to arrive. AD played a key role in their championship campaign.

After LeBron James decides to end his career, they will need to find a good replacement for the King and if they listen to Magic Johnson, that player is currently part of the Dallas Mavericks roster.
