The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the most well-managed and stable franchises in the NFL. This is thanks to Mike Tomlin and the culture he has established on the team since his arrival as head coach. However, one key figure has entered said roster, and that’s quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who has an out-of-the-box personality.

The Steelers announced their captains and Rodgers was named one of them. Despite being a new face on the roster, Rodgers is a very well-known name in the NFL and he has a great reputation as a teammate, despite his reputation to the media.

It’s noteworthy that he is the only offensive player who has the honor of being a team captain. The offense has restructured quite a bit during this offseason and Rodgers will be the one guiding them to a successful season.

Who are the other Steelers’ captains?

The Steelers are known for their defense. Hence, it’s not surprising that the other three captains of the team are playing on defense. Two of them are multi-time captains like pass rusher T.J. Watt and defensive end Cameron Heyward. The other captain? Nine-year veteran and two-time Pro Bowler Miles Killebrew, who is a safety, but spends most of his snaps on special teams.

TJ Watt, linebacker of the Pittsburgh Steelers

Watt has played eight years with the Steelers and is a 7x Pro Bowler, 4x first-team All Pro, Defensive Player of the Year and has solidified a Hall of Famer career. As for Heyward, he’s played 14 years for Pittsburgh and is a 7x Pro Bowler, and a 4x first-team All Pro too.

The Steelers offense should be better with Rodgers under center

The Steelers offense should look very different to what it looked like in 2024. Not only is Rodgers an upgrade at the quarterback position, but there are new weapons as well. With new people, there comes a new lineup that Tomlin might use:

  • Aaron Rodgers – QB
  • Jaylen Warren/Kaleb Johnson – RB
  • D.K. Metcalf – WR
  • Roman Wilson – WR
  • Calvin Austin – WR
  • Pat Freiermuth – TE
