The Kansas City Chiefs’ 2025 NFL season will come to a close next weekend after failing to secure a playoff berth. The frustrating campaign has cast doubt on the futures of several key figures within the organization, including head coach Andy Reid himself.

Although there’s still no certainty about what will happen in the near future, Reid made it clear that he intends to continue leading the first team in Chiefs Kingdom. “I think I’m coming back, if they’ll have me back,” he revealed via Charles Goldman.

While an early playoff exit is a situation the Chiefs haven’t faced much in recent years, it gives them the chance to secure a higher pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. From there, they’ll carefully analyze what moves will be best for next year’s roster.

“With Brett (Veach) and his crew doing it. That part is exciting to see and what takes place. It’s something to look forward to. It’s not where you want to be, but it is where we are,” Reid stated.

What’s Andy Reid’s contract situation?

Following the team’s historic success, Andy Reid signed a massive five-year contract extension in April 2024 that keeps him tied to the Kansas City Chiefs through the 2029 season. This landmark deal is reportedly worth $100 million, making him the highest-paid coach in the NFL with an average annual salary of $20 million.

Reid’s dynasty in Chiefs Kingdom

The trio of Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and Travis Kelce has established a modern NFL dynasty, leading the Kansas City Chiefs to an incredible three Super Bowl championships in just five years.

This historic run began with a victory in Super Bowl LIV, followed by back-to-back titles in Super Bowl LVII and Super Bowl LVIII. Their sustained excellence and ability to win in high-pressure moments have solidified their place among the greatest coach-quarterback-tight end combinations in football history.

The main question now is whether this slowly built dynasty is reaching its end. Travis Kelce is flirting with the idea of postponing his retirement, Mahomes suffered a serious injury that will keep him off the field for months, and Coach Reid will have to piece the puzzle back together for what lies ahead.
