The Baltimore Ravens face off against the Dallas Cowboys as part of their preseason schedule. Both teams have blockbuster quarterbacks, but since this is a preseason game, will Lamar Jackson and Dak Prescott suit up and play?
According to Jamison Hensley of ESPN, the Baltimore Ravens will play without their star quarterback. Lamar Jackson has sit out the preseason consistently and it won’t change.
Other stars like Derrick Henry, running back, and Roquan Smith, linebacker, won’t play either. Head coach John Harbaugh is not one to put his starters in preseason, yet the Ravens still made history a few years ago with 24 consecutive preseason victories. While that streak is no longer, it still means that the Ravens go all out even if their stars are sitting.
How about Dak, is he playing?
Dak Prescott spent plenty of his 2024 season injured. Hence, much has been said of his preseason input. Should he play to get some rhythm, should he sit out to avoid any risk? Well, head coach Brian Schottenheimer confirmed on Thursday’s press conference that Prescott won’t be risked against the Ravens, he will be sitting the game.
Throughout training camp, Dak’s workload has been managed in a friendly way for the quarterback. He suffered major hamstring issues last season and the Cowboys don’t want to overload him before the season starts.
Who are the backup quarterbacks?
For Dallas, it’s very likely that Joe Milton and Will Grier will play most of the snaps. Milton will start as he has been very good during training camp. Grier will then follow up.
For Baltimore, it’s former Cowboy Cooper Rush the one who will likely start the game. Rush played his first seven NFL seasons for the Lone Star team and played on 38 games, starting 14 of them. He has a 9-5 record with 20 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. After Rush, it’s former sixth-round pick Devin Leary who should see come action under center.
