The Denver Broncos were a playoff team last NFL season. That came to the surprise of many, as their roster wasn’t stacked by any means and Bo Nix was a rookie quarterback that wasn’t stellar at first. He ended up having a very strong season, and one of his key weapons just got great news too.

Courtland Sutton got 81 receptions for 1,081 yards and 8 touchdowns last season, being Nix’s best weapon. Well, the 29-year old agreed to terms with the Broncos to stay for 4 more years and $92 million.

Sutton was entering his final year but instead of opting to hold out or play hardball, he reported on time, and now, the Broncos reward him with a very lucrative deal.

Sutton is an underrated baller

When you list the best wide receivers in the NFL, Courtland Sutton may not be on that list. However, he is consistently good and that is a hard thing to do. Taking out the 2020 season, where he only played one game, he has surpassed the 700-yard mark in his other 6 seasons as a pro.

His catch rate is huge and his ability to get balls on contested throws is also a massive boost. Last year, he was crucial on key spots as he had a career-high number on 1st down catches with 57. He helps Nix move the chains.

What are other key weapons for Nix?

While Nix is certainly happy that Sutton is locked and loaded, he needs to know there are other names ready to step up. Marvin Mims Jr. had 503 yards last year and 6 touchdowns and he will also be back. Devaughn Vele had 475 yards and 3 touchdowns as a rookie and he will seek a sophomore leap. Also, the Broncos brought 2x Pro Bowler tight end Evan Engram to the roster who will be key.

The running game will have two new faces in charge. Veteran J.K. Dobbins joins the team to bring force and physicality. Rookie R.J. Harvey is swift and skilled. Both will have very good seasons under Sean Payton. This offense might not look like a 5-star unit, but don’t underestimate it.
