Bo Nix’s breakout was one of the biggest surprises in the NFL, as his rapid adjustment led to an impressive rookie season with the Denver Broncos. Now, with expectations rising, it’s time for him to prove it wasn’t a one-off—and take things to the next level.

Nix’s stellar run with the Oregon Ducks in college football earned him a first-round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, going 12th overall to Sean Payton’s squad. And so far, that gamble has been anything but a mistake. In fact, within the organization, there’s still strong belief that the best is yet to come.

Patrick Surtain II is one of them—and he didn’t hesitate to make it clear to the media. As the Broncos begin ramping up early training camp activity, the talented cornerback reaffirmed the team’s confidence in their quarterback heading into the new season.

Bo, he’s even more confident going into this year. Obviously, with Year 1 under his belt, a lot more confidence rises upon that,” Surtain said on Tuesday of Nix. “The team, we have Bo’s back through the whole way through. He’s a tremendous leader out there, obviously, a tremendous player. This year, he’s going to make a lot of noise, and we’re looking forward to seeing what he does and his success moving forward.”

The goal: Winning the AFC West

The Denver Broncos, led by Sean Payton, are cautiously optimistic about the upcoming NFL season, with much of that hope resting on second-year quarterback Bo Nix. The team is counting on significant development from the QB to elevate their offense, believing his continued growth will translate into more wins and consistent performance.

A key goal for the Broncos is to challenge the Kansas City Chiefs’ long-standing dominance in the AFC West. Dethroning the reigning champions is a huge undertaking, but Denver is confident that a more cohesive offense, paired with their consistently strong defense, could make them genuine contenders for the division title.

The road ahead will be tough, but the Broncos’ internal expectation is clear: compete at the highest level and make a forceful statement in a highly competitive AFC conference.
