If there’s one franchise among the NFL’s 32 that still owes its fans a deep playoff run, it’s undoubtedly the Dallas Cowboys. With the primary goal of reestablishing themselves as true contenders, Dak Prescott knows there are plenty of reasons to believe they can finally make that leap—especially after the latest offseason.

One of the main reasons the talented quarterback has reason to be optimistic about what’s ahead has a name: George Pickens. The wide receiver joined America’s Team after his stint with the Steelers, and many are already buzzing about what this new duo could achieve in the NFC East.

In a recent conversation with the media, Prescott was asked how long he thinks it will take to build a strong connection with his new offensive weapon. The quarterback expressed confidence, saying he believes it will be an easy task for both of them.

“Not long,” he said. “As I said, having dealt with trades before (such as) Amari Cooper, Brandin Cooks, I mean, you turn on that guy’s tape, he’s getting separation. He’s got separation even when he’s not getting the ball at times. And Hell, when he doesn’t have separation, he’s still making the catches. It’s not gonna be hard.

“To me, it’s about getting the ball near that guy and letting him go be George Pickens. Go turn on the tape. He’s great at doing it.”

The Cowboys are seeking redemption

After years of falling short, the Dallas Cowboys are entering the 2025 NFL season with a clear goal: to reestablish themselves as true contenders. Owner Jerry Jones is banking on a fresh direction, handing the reins to new head coach Brian Schottenheimer in hopes of changing the franchise’s postseason fortunes.

Dak Prescott remains at the center of it all. The veteran quarterback must stay healthy to lead an offense that now features dynamic newcomer George Pickens, who joins forces with CeeDee Lamb to form one of the most explosive receiving duos in the NFC.

On the other side of the ball, keeping star linebacker Micah Parsons locked into the roster will be crucial for a defense that’s long been the backbone of Dallas’ identity.

With new leadership, upgraded weapons, and high expectations, the Cowboys face one big question: will this finally be the year they make a deep run — or will their redemption story have to wait yet again?
