It didn’t take long for the New York Giants to make a change at quarterback. Russell Wilson is set to be benched in favor of Jaxson Dart for Week 4, but how do their 2025 salaries compare?

An era has ended in New York — and it was a short one. On Tuesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed that the Giants are moving on from Russell Wilson as their starting quarterback to hand the offense over to rookie Jaxson Dart against the Chargers.

In Week 3, fans at MetLife Stadium chanted Dart’s name after Wilson’s rough performance against the Chiefs. Now, the first-round pick will get his chance to prove why the Giants invested in him.

Russell Wilson vs. Jaxson Dart: How do their salaries compare?

Russell Wilson signed a one-year, $10.5 million deal with the Giants this offseason. All of it is guaranteed, with a base salary of $2 million, a signing bonus of $8 million, and a workout bonus of $500,000.

In comparison, Jaxson Dart joined the Giants as part of the 2025 NFL Draft. The rookie agreed to a four-year, $16.97 million fully guaranteed contract, with a base salary of $840,000 for this season.

When the Giants signed Wilson to a lucrative deal, many fans questioned the front office’s decision. Just three games into the 2025 season, it seems those doubts may have been justified.

Dart is widely seen as the future of the franchise. Still, few expected the team to move on from Wilson this quickly — especially considering the salary he is earning.

Jaxson Dart’s college stats

Dart will make his NFL debut in Week 4 against the Chargers, a tough challenge for a rookie. However, his college numbers suggest he could be an upgrade over Wilson.

The former USC and Ole Miss quarterback finished his college career with 852 completions on 1,307 attempts (65.2%), throwing for 11,970 yards, 81 touchdowns, and 27 interceptions.
