In the upcoming NFL Draft, many talented quarterbacks are hoping to be selected by a franchise. Among them, the talented QB from the Miami Hurricanes, Cam Ward, is eagerly awaiting an opportunity, particularly with certain teams. During his appearance at the Combine, the player shared his thoughts on the possibility of being coached by Pete Carroll with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Ward is expected to be one of the top picks in the first round of the upcoming NFL Draft, which is why he’s preparing in the best possible way for this moment. The Hurricanes QB knows he has the talent to make it to the NFL and expressed excitement about the possibility of being coached, among others, by the Raiders‘ staff.
“It would mean a lot, especially with the coaching staff they have,” Ward said via MitchellRenz365 on X. “Chip Kelly, the things that he can do with the quarterback moving him outside the pocket, the concepts he’s done.
“He does in the intermediate game. It’ll fit my play style and Pete Carroll, he’s a legendary coach and so if I’m lucky to go there, I know it’ll work out,” he finally concluded.
Cam Ward is projected to be selected among the top ten picks in the first round, and alongside him, top talents like Shedeur Sanders, Jalen Milroe, and Jaxson Dart are part of the elite group of quarterbacks who could make their way to the NFL.
The best, according to Ward
As a young prospect with a potential future in the NFL, Cam Ward has understandably been influenced by his role models. In a recent interview, the Hurricanes QB named his top five quarterbacks in the league today.
“I’m not gonna include myself—I’m not in the league yet. I would say Jayden Daniels, Pat [Mahomes], Lamar [Jackson], Josh Allen is up there, and Jalen Hurts,” Ward said.
Ward reflects on his opinion about the Combine
Cam Ward made the bold decision not to throw at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, a move that sparked quite a stir. Regarding his choice, the quarterback shared his thoughts on the matter.
“I don’t think [the Combine] is something that helps me. I’ll wait and throw with the best receivers in the country at my pro day,” Ward told reporters. “The film says everything about me—I truly believe that. What separates me from everyone else is my approach to the game, my mentality.”
