The Dallas Cowboys have begun reorganizing their offense with the goal of improving on last season’s results, which saw them miss the playoffs. Quarterback Dak Prescott, now fully recovered, will have George Pickens as a key weapon, bringing renewed confidence after his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
After an inconsistent 2024 season, the Cowboys made a decisive move that involves players with fewer injury concerns and greater disruptive potential. Pickens fits that profile perfectly, as Dallas also works to resolve the ongoing contract situation with Micah Parsons.
Following a lengthy stint with the Steelers, who welcomed him to the NFL after a standout college football career, Pickens made it clear how he feels about the change of scenery and the start of a new chapter with America’s Team. He even made indirect remarks about his time in Pittsburgh.
Pickens’ comment
“It’s a breath of fresh air,” Pickens said at a press conference about his first practice with the Cowboys. “I felt like I needed a fresh start. I’m definitely excited to run better plays,” the Dallas wide receiver added. He also expressed his desire to showcase a wider range of skills with his new team.
Pickens also spoke about Prescott
After playing alongside Russell Wilson during his time with the Steelers, Pickens addressed his new quarterback, Dak Prescott, who will now lead the Cowboys’ offense. The wide receiver said that the combination of his playing style with Prescott’s throwing ability could bring “something special” to the team.
Expectations for Pickens
Aiming to refresh their offensive unit, the Cowboys made a strategic move in the offseason by acquiring Pickens from the Steelers in exchange for a third-round pick in 2026 and a fifth-round pick in 2027. The 24-year-old receiver’s words suggest a chemistry that Dallas hopes to develop starting from training camp.
