In recent years, several players from the Los Angeles Rams‘ Super Bowl LVI-winning team have left the franchise. However, head coach Sean McVay is now eyeing the potential return of one of those stars who helped Matthew Stafford lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
The Los Angeles Rams are poised to make major changes this year. After their Super Bowl LVI victory, the team was expected to maintain its dominance, but it has fallen short of expectations in the seasons since.
Nevertheless, the front office believes the Rams can return to their former glory. For that reason, they are pursuing key acquisitions to contend for another title and reestablish themselves as a competitive force in the NFL.
Report: Rams could trade for a former star who helped them win Super Bowl LVI
The Rams have undergone a major rebuild since their Super Bowl win in 2022. At the time, Sean McVay assembled a star-studded roster, but several of those players left after celebrating the championship.
Los Angeles saw some of its top talent retire or sign with other teams for better financial offers. However, it appears McVay wants to bring back one of the team’s core players to aid in their return to success.
In recent months, rumors have grown about Jalen Ramsey’s potential departure from the Miami Dolphins. Naturally, he has been strongly linked to a possible return to the Rams, with many fans hopeful he could reunite with Matthew Stafford for the 2025 NFL season.
McVay recently addressed the speculation, saying he is open to the idea of a reunion with the star cornerback. However, he also acknowledged that Miami may demand a high price to complete the trade.
“He is a total stud,” McVay said of Ramsey, via ProFootballTalk. “And you look at — obviously he has continued to play at a really high level. He and I have kept in great touch even since we ended up trading him to Miami. Special competitor, great person, great father.
“And so there are a lot of layers when you’re talking about a player of his caliber, all right, with regards to the contract, the compensation that they would be looking for in exchange for receiving a player of his magnitude. And so those conversations are ongoing as I’m sure they are with multiple teams. And we’ll see, but we’re never gonna shy away from opportunities to increase the competitiveness of our roster or add great players as long as it fits within the framework of everything that an acquisition like that would entail.”
What could the Dolphins ask for Jalen Ramsey?
Jalen Ramsey’s tenure with the Dolphins hasn’t gone as expected. He was brought in to be a defensive cornerstone, but his performance has declined since joining the team.
According to reports, Miami is seeking a second-round pick in return for Ramsey. However, the trade package could shift if the Rams include a player that interests the Dolphins enough to lower their asking price.
