Since Lamar Jackson’s arrival with the Baltimore Ravens, many have hoped for a Super Bowl ring. Despite being named MVP of the regular season twice, that goal has yet to be achieved. Todd Monken, offensive coordinator on John Harbaugh’s staff, knows the QB has not yet reached his ceiling and is confident he will perform at a high level in the 2025 NFL season.
During a recent appearance on ‘The Lounge Podcast,’ the former OC of the Cleveland Browns and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, among others, acknowledged that while last season’s numbers weren’t ideal, he believes Jackson hasn’t shown his best performance yet and still has much more to give to the franchise in the NFL.
“The year that he had, I think he’s still just scratching the surface of where he’s headed,” Monken said. “It may not statistically show up that way, but I know he’s only the scratching the surface.”
Furthermore, Monken didn’t hesitate to highlight one of the most important qualities that the former Louisville Cardinals player possesses, not only when it comes to training but also in terms of competing week after week: “Lamar is an unbelievably humble superstar.”
“That doesn’t mean he’s not competitive, doesn’t want to be great. Lamar just wants to win. But he also knows that him playing well … your chances of winning go up exponentially if you have a great quarterback,” he concluded.

It’s no coincidence that since Jackson’s arrival with the Ravens, the Baltimore franchise has become a serious contender not only in the AFC North but across the league. Todd Monken has worked hand in hand with the QB in recent years and knows firsthand the key characteristics that set Lamar apart from his peers.
“He has unbelievable vision,” Monken said. “The way he sees the field and plays the game is one of one. His ability to escape. He’s so calm. He jumps right, he just left, he jumps back, jumps forward, puts his hand on someone’s face mask. There is no panic. (It) feels like he’s in control. It’s unique. It’s fun to work with.”
There’s a lot expected from Jackson in the upcoming NFL season. Many are confident in their ability to surround him with the best possible support this offseason and to make a strong draft at the end of April. The main goal remains the same: to lead his team to a new Super Bowl.
