Following a heartbreaking 24-17 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers last Sunday, the Los Angeles Rams made the decision to part ways with their kicker, Brett Maher, the team announced. Before the game against Pittsburgh, Maher had scored 16 successful kicks out of 20 attempts, which amounted to an 80 percent success rate.
Maher’s performance in the game against the Steelers was a significant factor in their defeat, as he missed two crucial field goals, one from 53 yards and another from 51 yards, and an extra point that, if successful, could have potentially changed the outcome of the match. Notably, he had a flawless record of 4 out of 4 in the Rams’ previous victory over the Cardinals.
The Rams, who currently hold a 3-4 record, wasted no time in addressing this issue, signing Lucas Havrisik from Cleveland‘s practice squad just two days after the disappointing loss.
