Liverpool got the job done with a 5-1 win against Tottenham to secure the 2024-25 Premier League title. The champions, however, will have to wait a bit longer to finally get their hands on the trophy.
The Reds won’t lift the Premier League trophy until Matchday 38, when they host Crystal Palace at Anfield on Matchday 38. The game is scheduled for Sunday, May 25, at 11:00 AM (Eastern Time).
The Premier League rules allow the reigning champions―in this case, Manchester City―to keep their trophy until three weeks before their final game of the season. In addition, the tradition is that the trophy is lifted on the champions’ final home game of the campaign.
How many Premier League titles have Liverpool won?
This is only the second time Liverpool have won the title in the Premier League era, with their previous success coming in the 2019-20 season. On that occasion, the Covid-19 pandemic prevented fans from being in attendance for the ceremony, which makes the Crystal Palace match even more special for the Reds.
Liverpool match Manchester United in English league triumphs
Liverpool, however, now boast 20 league titles including the First Division era. This sees them tie the record set by Manchester United, who haven’t won the league since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure in 2013.
