Weston McKennie is one of the most promising players in Europe, and some Premier League teams were looking to sign him in this transfer window. However, Juventus moved faster and won the race to have McKennie in their lines for next season.

The Italian club confirmed the transfer news on their Twitter account, by posting videos and images of McKennie arriving in Turin. The midfielder would sign his contract with Juve on Friday to be under the orders of manager Andrea Pirlo.

McKennie, who has played the last four seasons for Schalke 04 of the Bundesliga, will join Juventus, one of the most popular and powerful teams in the world, on a one-year loan deal worth around €3 million. The 21-year-old players hopes to be part of Juve’s first team as soon as possible and then show his experience in the USMNT.

Juventus wasted no time in welcoming Weston McKennie to the club. The club’s official account posted videos and images of the American player arriving in Turin. He will join Pirlo’s squad for practice in the coming days.

Premier League teams such as Newcastle, Southampton and Evertonhad showed some interest in the now former Schalke 04’s player, but the club decided to send him on loan to Juventus, who would have to pay€18 million if they wanted to sign McKennie permanently.
