Late in the first half, Lamine Yamal converted a penalty to score Barcelona’s third goal against Newcastle. It marked his 10th in his Champions League career, and after finding the net, he recreated Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic celebration, climbing onto the advertising boards with his arms crossed.
The Portuguese star is a living legend of modern soccer and one of the greatest players in the history of the competition, having scored 140 goals. Yamal, despite his young age, is gradually looking to reach that level.
The iconic image of CR7 came after he delivered a hat trick against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League during the 2016–17 season.
Tribute to Neymar Jr.
After scoring for Barcelona against Newcastle, Yamal not only remembered Cristiano Ronaldo but also recreated a celebration by Neymar Jr., whom he had paid tribute to on Instagram just a day earlier.
