The Paris Masters 2021 will begin this week to put the end to the men’s tennis regular season. Russian Daniil Medvedev is the defending champion and will try to take the crown once more. However, other top players, most notably World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, won’t make it easy for him.
The Paris Masters will serve as the final opportunity to qualify to the Nitto ATP finals this year. Right now, there’s only two spots left and at least four contenders: Caasper Ruud, Hubert Hurkacz, Jannik Sinner and Felix-Auger Aliassime, who will need a deep run to have chances to go to Turin.
On the other hand, Olympic champion Alexander Zverev will play in the French capital after lifting the trophy in Vienna on Sunday. The German reached the finals last year and he will be looking to take the title (and the prize money) in this edition.
Paris Masters 2021: How much will the champion get?
The Rolex Paris Masters 2021 will be played from November 1 to Sunday November 7. The tournament has a prize money pool of €2,603,700. The winner of the singles draw will take €333,000 and 1000 points for the rankings, while the finalist will take home€187,000.
The rest of the money is divided between the semifinalists, who take €106,000; the quarter-finalists, who earn €60,000; while the players who reach the Round of 16 take €36,000. The players who play until the Round of 32 will earn €22,000 and those who lost in the first round will win €13,700.
Paris is, since 2009, the only Masters 1000 that’s played under roof. Novak Djokovic is the player with the most singles titles with five, and his last win was in 2019, when he beat Canadian Denis Shapovalov in the final.
