It’s a great time to be a basketball fan living in Texas. The San Antonio Spurs got Victor Wembanyama a couple of years ago, the Dallas Wings got Paige Bueckers, and the Dallas Mavericks will now get Cooper Flagg.
The fans are all set in the Lone Star State for years to come. And with the Mavs and Spurs slated to pick No. 1 and No. 2 in the 2025 NBA Draft, that’s only going to get better.
Notably, that’s why the Duke basketball official X account had a rather interesting suggestion for Gregg Popovich, urging them to take Kon Knueppel with their first-round selection.

Knueppel was the Blue Devils’ second-best player and scorer last season. He’s an elite sharpshooter and a much better defender than one could tell by the naked eye.
However, as great a player as he is, and as much as he should be definitely taken in the first ten selections, it’s hard to envision any scenario in which the Spurs take him at No. 2.
