NCAAB News: Dan Hurley’s UConn will lead the nation in one key aspect

Dan Hurley and the UConn Huskies will look to recover after a disappointing campaign, and they will certainly have the resources and assets to do so.

The UConn Huskies entered last season with high hopes and expectations. Unfortunately, Dan Hurley’s team fell short, and they were just never the dominant force of old.

Their pursuit of a historic three-peat was cut short when the Florida Gators knocked them out of the second round of the NCAA Tournament, and they struggled for most of the regular season as well.

However, given their strong recruiting efforts and big wins in the transfer portal, college basketball analyst Mark Zanetto believes they will have the best backcourt in the nation.

“But next year, the year that’s coming in—the 2025–26 season—we have what Dan has called a monster class,” Zanetto said on The Hoop Capital. “And I think this new guard backcourt, with some folks obviously sticking around like Solo, is just going to be phenomenal, if not the best in the country from top to bottom.”

He then continued to gush about the Huskies’ backcourt, adding that they had enough size, depth, and experience to be a force to be reckoned with next season:

“I’m talking the entire backcourt—not just Solo and Silas, not just Malachi and Silas—but when you add Braylon Mullins, when you add Alec Millender, when you add Jacob Furphy, who’s listed as a guard for this UConn team: size, depth, experience, speed, power, All-Americans,” he continued. “You know, Mr. Indiana Basketball in Braylon Mullins, who’s going to be the next one-and-done for this talented UConn squad. So we’re going to get into that and break out this new core four, if you will, with the new additions to this UConn team.”
