Stephen A. Smith makes blunt JuJu Watkins-Caitlin Clark demand

Caitlin Clark opened up the door for many stars, and Stephen A. Smith believes it's time people give JuJu Watkins her flowers as well.

Over the past three years or so, women’s basketball has drawn way more eyeballs. Of course, Caitlin Clark and the revolution she created during her days at Iowa have plenty to do with that.

Now, other players are reaping what she sowed. Girls like Paige Bueckers and Hannah Hidalgo are getting worldwide attention and recognition for their skills on the court.

However, of all, perhaps USC star JuJu Watkins stands on a tier or her own. That’s why ESPN pundit Stephen A. Smith made a case for her to start getting the same treatment Caitlin Clark gets.

“When are we gonna start talking about [Watkins] the same way we talk about Caitlin Clark?” he asked on First Take. “If you look at her skillset, her ball-handling ability, her driving ability, her shot-making ability, this sister is something special.”

Truth be told, it’s hard to argue with that statement after watching her score at least 20 points in five of her last six games, including two 30+ games vs. UCLA in the meantime.

The sophomore averaged north of 27 points per game and led her team to a 27-2 record and a Big Ten title. She’s still years away from entering the WNBA, so it’s crazy to think what he might accomplish in college.
