Carson Beckās arrival at the Miami Hurricanes is seen as a major move for the program, which was in desperate need of a Cam Ward-level replacement. Despite recovering from a serious injury and missing the first practice, head coach Mario Cristobal remains optimistic about what the quarterback can bring to his team ahead of the 2025 NCAAF season.
After the first official spring practice, the Hurricanes began their journey toward a strong College Football season. With former Georgia Bulldogs player watching from the sidelines, the team led by Cristobal aims to become a contender this year. Once the session concluded, head coach Cristobal spoke with the press, sharing his thoughts on Beckās arrival to the program.
āAs positive as you can have without actually having any kind of participation in live drills,ā the head coach stated. āThe things happened so fast and that one certainly happened a little bit faster and with less familiarity than the previous year, and so all that stuff I would say relationships and leadership, they do take time but everything from initially has been super positive. Weāre really excited to see him healthy and working with our guys at full speed.ā
Despite the serious injury he suffered late last year, many expected the player to declare for the upcoming NFL Draft after his standout performance with the Bulldogs. To the surprise of both fans and analysts, Beck chose to enter the Transfer Portal and commit to Miami for this season. Mario Cristobal expressed his satisfaction with the decision.

āHeās athletic, heās smart, heās got superior arm talent, heās accurate, he can extend plays, he can also sit in the pocket, he runs well,ā Cristobal said. āHeās a great human being and heās demonstrated leadership qualities. Heās really hard on himself, he wants to be great and one of his best qualities is that he wanted to be at Miami.ā

Cavinder shared his thoughts on Beckās decision to Join Miami
The relationship between Carson Beck and Hanna Cavinder was seen by many as one of the main reasons why the talented quarterback chose to join the Hurricanes program instead of declaring for the Draft. Despite this, one of the stars of the womenās basketball team denied any influence on Beckās final decision.
āObviously, the University of Miami is an amazing campus, and I think it was the best decision for him,ā Cavinder said to ESPNās Christine Williamson. āI think heās gonna love the university. Obviously, I love Miami, so I will stay here. My familyās in Fort Lauderdale, but yeah, Iām super excited for him and to be able to watch him play.
āHonestly, I was not involved at all. I know that a lot of people probably think that. But no, I was not involved at all. It was honestly what was the best decision for him and where he was gonna fit and be able to be successful. Iām super excited for him. Itās very convenient. Obviously, you canāt beat Miami and the people here.ā

Carson Beckās injury update
Earlier this year, Carson Beck made the bold decision to join the Hurricanes through the Transfer Portal. While he is still recovering from a serious injury suffered last season with the Bulldogs, it is believed he will be available for the coaching staff soon.
āHeās doing well. Heās running really fast,ā Cristobal said of Beck, who recently had his elbow brace removed. āHeās not throwing the ball yet, but heās very close to doing so, so heās taking part in all that he can do. And he should be throwing soon, maybe in a couple of weeks or so.ā
Last December, Beck underwent surgery to repair a torn UCL in his right elbow, an injury sustained while playing in the SEC Championship Game for Georgia.
