The countdown to a new College Football season is on, and Week 1 is set to deliver a blockbuster opener: the reigning champions, the Ohio State Buckeyes, will host Steve Sarkisian’s Texas Longhorns. With Ryan Day confirming Julian Sayin as the Buckeyes’ new starting quarterback, alarms have gone off in the Longhorns’ camp.

With Will Howard officially on his way to the NFL, Ryan Day has confirmed that Sayin will take over as the Buckeyes‘ starting quarterback, and his debut will be precisely against an old acquaintance.

Sarkisian knows his opponent’s game inside and out, having spent time with the former Alabama QB during camp sessions in the past. He even expressed, on multiple occasions, a strong desire to recruit him to his own program. Speaking to the media recently, the Longhorns’ head coach shared his thoughts on the highly anticipated clash just days away.

Ton of respect for Julian,” Sarkisian said. “We recruited him hard. He’s a very gifted passer, really good player. He came to camp with us, I think, I want to say two years in a row. So we’ve got a lot of familiarity with him. He’s obviously a California kid…very good player.

“Elite passer, very good arm talent, very quick release, really accurate guy. Obviously, he’s got great weapons around him, and so he’s the type of guy who can utilize those weapons in a good system.”

This game promises to be a look into the future of college football as two new eras begin.

Trust placed in Arch
