The 2025 NCAA season is approaching and all eyes are fixing on Arch Manning and the Texas Longhorns. Expected to be the best college football program in the country, the burnt orange has its work cut out. While many already fantasize about the talented QB declaring for the upcoming NFL Draft, Archie Manning dampened expectations.
The eyes of Texas are always watching, but now the national spotlight is upon the Longhorns. After last season’s loss in the semifinal, anything but going all the way will be deemed a failure. Manning knows that the weight has landed entirely on his shoulders. This is his team now.
Quinn Ewers is no longer at the helm in The Forty Acres. The huddle is now commanded by the heir to the Manning royal quarterback lineage—and Arch wouldn’t want it any other way. Now, it’s time to face the music after years of massive hype but limited playing time.
Is Manning headed to the NFL?
Still, Manning is adjusting to life as QB1 in Austin—and that transition might take time. His relatives have long preached patience, advocating for the young signal-caller to stay in college football for a while, learn the system, and develop before declaring for the NFL Draft.

Former NFL player/radio personality Archie Manning attends DIRECTV’S Seventh Annual Celebrity Beach Bowl at DTV SuperFan Stadium at Mardi Gras World on February 2, 2013 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
That sentiment has now been replicated by Ole Miss legend Archie Manning, who has dropped a firm answer on his grandson potentially declaring for the Draft after the 2025 campaign. “Arch isn’t going to do that. He’ll be at Texas,” Archie confessed, via Texas Monthly.

Mess with the Horns
Texas knows it will have its hands full in the 2025 college football campaign. Though it’s a major recognition and honor, being ranked No. 1 in the Preseason Coaches Poll has put a massive target on the Longhorns’ back. Now, every school in the NCAA is out to get them.
The same can be said for Ohio State, fresh off a national championship run. That makes Week 1’s matchup at the Horseshoe one like no other. Fireworks are guaranteed—but only one juggernaut will walk out of Columbus undefeated.

As for the Longhorns, the school has some pending business with the Buckeyes. Perhaps the opening week clash is the best stage to settle them once and for all. Texas offensive lineman DJ Campbell best defined the upcoming matchup with Ohio State: “First stop on the revenge tour,” he said, per On3.
