Phil Mickelson is gearing up for a major challenge at the 2025 Masters, and he's sending a clear warning to PGA Tour players: don’t count him out just yet. With his new approach to the game, Lefty believes he's more than ready to compete at the top level.

Phil Mickelson had a great performance at LIV Golf Hong Kong 2025. Despite being 54 years old, the legend came very close to lifting the trophy, finishing in third place behind Sergio Garcia and Dean Burmester.

“Yeah. I’m happy. I’ve got to find another way to beat these guys. So, I hit a lot of fairways this week. I actually hit a lot of good putts today that didn’t quite go in, but, I had a really good week. I putted well. I hit a lot of good shots. Like I said, I have to find a way to beat these guys because I’m not going to overpower them. I’m figuring it out.”

Amid the uncertainty surrounding Tiger Woods, Mickelson could be the veteran ready to surprise next month at the Masters in Augusta. It’s important to remember that the legend has won three green jackets and knows the course perfectly.

Can Phil Mickelson win the 2025 Masters Tournament?

Phil Mickelson believes he can win the 2025 Masters if he fine-tunes his new style of play in the coming weeks to compete at the top of the leaderboard, even though he no longer has the same distance as other stars. This was Lefty’s warning heading into the first Major. If he finds his form, anything is possible at Augusta.

“That’s in my thought process. However, for me to play well there, I’ve got to build into it which makes this tournament (Hong Kong) even more important. Just keep cleaning it up and get sharper and sharper. Feeling that pressure and that excitement coming down the stretch, that only gets me more ready for Augusta. But I need to keep building, keep improving and keep finding tuning. I’m finding a different style of golf that is allowing me to shoot scores to compete against the best players but in a different way.”
