After the Game 3 loss, Boone acknowledged the team’s struggles, saying, “They took us down this weekend, back-to-back weekends. So you hate that, but we have a really good club. Just didn’t play our best here this weekend. The Yankees fell 2-0 in the series finale.

Despite the sweep, Boone didn’t sound overly alarmed. “Concerning? I mean, I wouldn’t put it that way,” he said. “I would just say, you always — especially when you’re playing the Red Sox — you always want to put your best foot forward.”

Boone found a silver lining in the Yankees’ pitching.

Even though Boston completed the sweep, the Yankees’ pitching wasn’t the main issue. The games were all close—2-1, 4-3, and 2-0. Boone defended his rotation and bullpen, including starts from Fried, Rodón, and Yarbrough.

“Obviously had a hard time putting runs on the board,” Boone said. “I thought overall, I thought we pitched pretty well and did enough run prevention wise to keep them in check to hopefully win some games, but we just didn’t get much going.”
