Carlos Mendoza was one of the first to speak out about the tough stretch the New York Mets are currently facing—a 15-game run without a single series win, with their struggles on the road becoming increasingly apparent.
Addressing the situation, Mendoza said, “We’ve got to fight through it, and we will,” emphasizing that there’s still time to turn things around. He also made it clear the team doesn’t expect pity from anyone: “Nobody is going to feel sorry for us.”
The Mets manager believes there’s a solution: “It’s a tough stretch… we’re going through it, but we’ll find a way,” pointing out that June actually started strong for the club and doesn’t necessarily have to end poorly—especially with the MLB talent they have on the roster.
When was the last time the Mets won a series?
The Mets’ last series win came against the Nationals from June 10–12. The closest they’ve come since was a four-game split against the Braves where they won the last two games.

Compared to last year, the Mets are facing a clear decline. June 2024 was a strong month—they started with a 24–34 record and improved to 40–41, losing just 8 of 24 games. This year, their results have taken a turn.
Can the Mets bounce back?
There’s a good chance they can. Despite the rough patch, the Mets still hold a solid 48–36 record and have more than two full months left to play. There’s plenty of time to make a push and continue battling the Phillies for the top spot in the division.
