It's been a wild MLB season for the New York Yankees. The Bronx Bombers got off to a great start of the campaign but following a brief hiatus due to multiple Covid-19 outbreaks on their rivals, they just can't seem to catch a break. Countless hilarious memes and reactions flood the internet day in and day out whenever they play.

Aaron Boone's team clearly missed Aroldis Chapman. A lot. The Cuban Missile is one of the best closers - if not the best - in the Major and he hadn't been able to play due to Covid-19 and multiple injuries. Now, however, it seems like they'd be better off without him.

Chapman has struggled with his command in the limited innings he's been on the mound. He nearly beheaded Tampa's Mike Brosseau and his fastball has been way outside of the strike zone more often than not.

Well, unfortunately for the Yankees, Chapman's woes showed up again last night and in a big fashion. He tossed a leadoff walk leading one run in the bottom of the ninth and the New York Mets were able to tie the game.

Then, Pete Alonso hit the first walk-off home run of his career and the Mets took the first of the Subway Series 9-7, and, obviously, the internet had a lot to say about it. Check out the funniest memes and reactions here.

Ironically, Chapman was supposed to serve a three-game suspension for his role in the altercation between the Yankees and the Rays. The Cuban is appealing the decision, thus he was eligible to pitch last night. Perhaps, they would have been better off if he wasn't able to play at all but hey, it happens to the best, and he's definitely going to get back on track rather sooner than later.
