Max Muncy has officially landed on the injured list, and the Los Angeles Dodgers will be without him for a while due to a bone bruise in his left knee. Fortunately, the team already has a replacement lined up for the slugger, who recently opened up about his injury.

According to Muncy, he expects to be out for at least six weeks — meaning he’ll likely miss all of July and part of August. If his rehab goes as planned, the Dodgers could have him back in time for a postseason push.

The good news for the Dodgers is that an MRI revealed no structural damage to Max Muncy’s knee, though he will still head to the injured list. The team has already lined up Muncy’s replacement at third base.

Who Will Cover Third Base?

According to Dave Roberts, Tommy Edman will cover Muncy’s absence. Edman has already begun practicing at the position and will be supported by Miguel Rojas and Kiké Hernández if needed.

Muncy had been contributing significantly, batting .250 through 81 games with the Dodgers. Prior to his knee injury, he had recorded 39 runs, 64 hits, 13 home runs, and 55 RBIs, indicating a strong MLB season for him.
