Mets among top 6 MLB teams with most injured players as Dodgers make list and Yankees are absent

The list of MLB teams with the most injuries highlights the difficult stretch the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers are going through, while the New York Yankees didn’t make the cut—but that doesn’t mean they’re injury-free.

The New York Mets recently had to place another pitcher on the injured list—this time it was José Butto, who is expected to miss some time. No details were shared about the nature of the injury, as manager Carlos Mendoza said it would remain private out of respect.

The Mets now sit at the top of the league with 16 players on the injured list—the highest total among all MLB teams this season. They officially moved into first place after surpassing the Houston Astros, who currently have 15 players sidelined.

The Los Angeles Dodgers appear further down the list, tied for sixth with 12 injured players—matching the Red Sox and Reds, who are dealing with similar situations. Meanwhile, the third spot belongs to the Baltimore Orioles, with 14 players on the IL.

Why the Yankees didn’t make the list

The Yankees didn’t crack the top 6 because they have only 8 players currently on the injured list. Like the Mets, most of those are pitchers. The most recent Yankee to be placed on the IL was Clarke Schmidt, who landed on the 15-day list.

Despite all the injuries, the Mets have shown slightly more consistency than the Yankees this season. Even with several key rotation arms and relievers missing time, they’ve managed to slowly adjust.

Things could be looking up

Some reinforcements may be on the way. The Mets are hoping Kodai Senga can return soon, and Mendoza recently said Senga is set to begin another key phase of his rehab during the Subway Series weekend.
