Newly acquired by the Philadelphia Phillies, Max Kepler is already taking his role seriously. Before the first game of the 2025 season, he didn’t hesitate to speak boldly about what other MLB teams should expect from his squad this year—a team he says will be as strong as any other club.

In remarks captured by Devan Kaney for 94WIP Radio, Kepler delivered a pointed ten-word statement: “I think we’re just as hungry as any other year.” He went on to emphasize that his teammates share his eagerness and hunger for success.

Kepler’s comments address the Phillies’ struggles in recent postseasons, particularly in 2024, when they suffered a 3-1 loss to the Mets in the NLDS. Although he emphasized the team’s hunger for success, he refrained from revealing too much about their strategy, stating, “I don’t want to give away too much.” This subtle hint suggests that the team might be even stronger this year.

Kepler wants the events of the Phillies’ past MLB seasons to stay behind them, as he believes the current roster has the potential to be even better. “We are trying to make the most with what we have here,” he stated. It’s worth noting that Kepler spent his first 10 MLB seasons with the Twins before recently leaving the team.
