After a rough start to his New York Mets career, Bo Bichette is beginning to show signs of the player the team expected, even if the results haven’t fully followed. Thursday’s game against the San Francisco Giants offered a glimpse of that potential, with several well‑struck balls that came up just short.
“Bo had some really good at-bats today,” Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said, according to SNY. “That first inning, that double. The one he drove to centerfield. I thought the at-bats from him today looked like Bo Bichette.”
Bichette’s box score read 1-for-4, but he could easily have had three hits. He doubled in the first to drive in the opening run, and in the third he nearly cleared the wall in center, missing by a foot. “I thought I hit it OK,” he said. “If I thought I got it, I would’ve come out of the box a little different.” It was another step forward for a player who recently Bichette reflected on redemption tour as he works back into form.
Confidence building through quality at-bats
Despite a slow start, just 3-for-27 with no extra-base hits entering Thursday, Bichette is showing improvement. He’s struck out just once in his last four games after eight strikeouts in his first three, signaling that he’s adjusting to Major League pitching and settling into his new team.

Team struggles remain, but optimism grows
While Bichette’s resurgence hasn’t translated into immediate offense for the Mets, both he and Mendoza are focusing on process over results. “Maybe [we’re unlucky], but that’s not something to fall on. Should always be looking to do better, be better,” Bichette said.

The Mets will have another chance to see the infielder continue to find his rhythm as they take on the Giants in the next game of the series, hoping that quality at-bats turn into more production in the coming days.
