The COVID-19 pandemic had a massive impact on sports. From MLB, to NFL, to NBA, nothing was exempt fromits toll. But more than that, it definitely affected the fans as they werenāt able to attend games for a full year.
Worryingly, it seems like that made some of those fans forget how to behave. Someone threw a baseball at Alex Verdugo during a Yankees-Red Sox game, a fan threw popcorn at Russell Westbrookās head, and someone even spat on Trae Young.
Now, a Colorado Rockies fan has made all the headlines for the wrong reasons, as he was caught yelling racial slurs at Miami Marlinsā outfielder Lewis Brinson during their series in the weekend.
Colorado Rockies Statement On The Racial Slurs
The insults were even caught up on the gameās live broadcast, which was infuriating and preposterous beyond words. Now, the team is conducting a full investigation to find out who yelled those things and ban him for life:

āThe Colorado Rockies are disgusted at the racial slur by a fan directed at the Marlinsā Lewis Brinson during the ninth inning of todayās game. Although the subject was not identified prior to the end of the game, the Rockies are still investigating this incident. The Rockies have zero tolerance for any form of racism or discrimination, and any fan using derogatory language of any kind will be ejected and banned from Coors Field.ā

āNeither Lewis, nor any other Marlins on the field or in the dugout, heard what was shouted,ā Miami Marlins spokesman Jason Latimer told the Associated Press.āWe brought the matter to the attention of the Rockies. How the matter is being handled, I would have to defer to them.ā
Cāmon, people. Itās 2021. This shouldnāt be an issue anymore. We shouldnāt be talking about racism in sports ā or anywhere. Hopefully, theyāll find this fan and heāll be banned for life not only from Coors Field but for every major venue in the country. Thereās no room for that caveman behavior.
