The COVID-19 pandemic had a massive impact on sports. From MLB, to NFL, to NBA, nothing was exempt fromits toll. But more than that, it definitely affected the fans as they weren’t able to attend games for a full year.

Worryingly, it seems like that made some of those fans forget how to behave. Someone threw a baseball at Alex Verdugo during a Yankees-Red Sox game, a fan threw popcorn at Russell Westbrook’s head, and someone even spat on Trae Young.

Now, a Colorado Rockies fan has made all the headlines for the wrong reasons, as he was caught yelling racial slurs at Miami Marlins’ outfielder Lewis Brinson during their series in the weekend.

Colorado Rockies Statement On The Racial Slurs

The insults were even caught up on the game’s live broadcast, which was infuriating and preposterous beyond words. Now, the team is conducting a full investigation to find out who yelled those things and ban him for life:

“The Colorado Rockies are disgusted at the racial slur by a fan directed at the Marlins’ Lewis Brinson during the ninth inning of today’s game. Although the subject was not identified prior to the end of the game, the Rockies are still investigating this incident. The Rockies have zero tolerance for any form of racism or discrimination, and any fan using derogatory language of any kind will be ejected and banned from Coors Field.”

“Neither Lewis, nor any other Marlins on the field or in the dugout, heard what was shouted,” Miami Marlins spokesman Jason Latimer told the Associated Press.“We brought the matter to the attention of the Rockies. How the matter is being handled, I would have to defer to them.”

C’mon, people. It’s 2021. This shouldn’t be an issue anymore. We shouldn’t be talking about racism in sports – or anywhere. Hopefully, they’ll find this fan and he’ll be banned for life not only from Coors Field but for every major venue in the country. There’s no room for that caveman behavior.
