Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue gets real on James Harden after loss to Lakers

Looking to dispel concerns, Lue defended Harden and offered insight into his recent dip in performance. “You can see fatigue setting in with James Harden. He has carried the Clippers for 50 games,” Lue told reporters after the loss to the Lakers.

Since joining the Clippers at the start of the season in October, Harden has had little time to rest. Apart from the All-Star break, he has missed just three games during the regular season. In the 57 games he has played, Harden has often had to take on a leadership role within the roster.

I think over the last couple of games, you’re starting to see certain situations and plays where Kawhi is looking like himself again,” Lue said.

“Still, he’s working on getting into the rhythm and flow of the game. The pace was a bit fast for him early on, especially in those first 10 or 12 games. But it’s starting to come together. Until we get our full team healthy, it’s going to take some time. But I’m confident he’ll get back to his best,“Lue added.
