Bronny James, the son of NBA legend LeBron James, made his debut with the Los Angeles Lakers this season. However, things did not go as planned. His early performance fell short of the hype since fans had high expectations for him. Even so, Bronny did not let the pressure define his path. He kept working hard and started earning more opportunities. As a result, he matched an impressive rookie feat once achieved by Michael Jordan
Lakers’ youngster made nine three-pointers in his debut NBA season. With that mark, he matched the same number Michael Jordan had in his rookie year. However, this does not suggest he is on track to have a similar career. Bronny still needs to raise his level significantly if he wants to reach anything close to Jordan’s greatness.
That said, Jordan played all 82 NBA games in his first season. He averaged 28.2 points, 5.9 assists, and 6.5 rebounds per game. From the beginning, he showed he could dominate the league. On the other hand, Bronny has appeared in just 26 games averaging 2.2 points, 0.6 assists, and 0.6 rebounds. That is a long way from the impact Jordan had.
Nevertheless, Bronny James could even surpass that Jordan’s mark. The Lakers have one more game left, facing the Portland Trail Blazers. Since they already secured the third seed in the Western Conference, JJ Redick could decide to give more minutes to rotation players like Bronny.

In the last game against the Houston Rockets, Bronny made one three-pointer within just 4 minutes of playtime. His performance gives him a solid chance to repeat it against Portland. If given the opportunity, he could build momentum heading into the offseason.

JJ Redick opens up on the game against Trail Blazers: Will Bronny James have an important playtime?
After clinching third place in the Western Conference, the team now faces growing pressure from fans. Many believe it is time to shift focus to the playoffs and rest the stars. Because of that, JJ Redick was asked about the situation during a press conference. He responded with a clear message and revealed some key insights into the team’s mindset.
“We started working yesterday, we spent about 45 minutes this morning, starting to just map out, we obviously don’t know when we’re going to play, but starting to map out next week. And it’s going to be important over the next eight, nine days to, you know, stay in that rhythm, and we have to be smart about it…We want to prioritize rest and recovery, of course, but we got to also stay in that rhythm,” affirmed JJ Redick.
These statements make it clear that changes are coming. Even if the starting lineup stays the same, their minutes will drop. The coaching staff wants to prioritize rest and recovery ahead of the playoffs. However, the stars will still see some action. They will not lower the team’s competitiveness because they want to stay sharp. Reaching the postseason in top form remains a priority.
