The Denver Nuggets might have received very good news regarding the immediate future of one of their most promising players, Michael Porter Jr. The young baller has been out of action for a big chunk of this month and his return could happen very soon.
MPJ, one of the best young players in the NBA, had a great start to the season, posting good numbers in his second campaign in the league, ready to help the Denver Nuggets compete in the Western Conference.
Head coach Michael Malone recently updated on Porter Jr’s status and they have received very good news, but the process will be hard to get the player back on track and playing like he used to before testing positive for COVID-19.
Michael Porter could return soon to the Nuggets lineup
Malone explained that Porter has started returning negative tests and that is good for the player. However, it will take some time before we see the best version of the 22-year-old back on the court.
“Once you clear and you start returning negative tests, that’s a big part of it,” Malone said following Thursday’s practice, via Michael Singer of the Daily Camera. “But then there’s a cardio aspect of it you have to pass and go through, a complete and comprehensive cardio exam. Once all that comes back into play, hopefully he’ll be able to play at some point on this trip.”
Before going down, MPJ posted 19.5 points,6.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.0 steals, and 1.5 blocks in four games with his team while shooting56.6% from the field. Now he’ll try to get back to his best version and help Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray take this team to the postseason.
The Nuggets are currently 7-7, ranking 10th in the West. They hope to have their roster full and improve their numbers sooner than later.
