The Golden State Warriors appear to be carrying the weight of uncertainty surrounding Jonathan Kuminga, who remains one of the biggest question marks of the NBA offseason—alongside the potential roster moves the Warriors are reportedly considering.

The dilemma involving Kuminga is far from resolved, and it doesn’t look like a solution is coming anytime soon. While a return to Golden State seems likely due to a weakened trade market, several teams once interested in the young forward have already made moves elsewhere, making a deal increasingly difficult.

Retaining Kuminga might actually be the Warriors’ best-case scenario under the current circumstances. However, according to NBA insider Brett Siegel, the player’s camp is not on the same page with the franchise.

ā€œKuminga’s camp want a big deal in the $30M+ range and don’t want to be back with the Warriors,ā€ Siegel tweeted on Saturday. ā€œGolden State wants a small deal in $20M range where they can flip him because there’s no market. Kuminga has spent much of the summer at the center of persistent trade rumors. NBA reporter Jake Fischer previously noted that Kuminga and his representatives were pursuing a sign-and-trade opportunity with the Chicago Bulls.

That interest was reportedly mutual. While the Sacramento Kings initially expressed strong external interest, the Bulls soon emerged as the most realistic landing spot. However, negotiations stalled due to the Bulls’ pursuit of restricted free agent Josh Giddey and a wide gap in salary expectations between the two sides.

Speculation only grew when online chatter suggested that a deal involving Warriors big man Nikola Vucevic and the Bulls could be in the works. As of now, though, Kuminga remains on Golden State’s roster—despite reports indicating that he’d prefer otherwise. Several teams are believed to still be monitoring the situation closely amid upcoming NBA season.

This ongoing saga is far from over, but eventually, a resolution will come. Once a move is made, it could unlock the Warriors’ ability to reshape their roster and provide the necessary support around stars Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler.
