There’s been a lot of back-and-forth regarding who should be this year’s NBA MVP. For some, Stephen Curry’s numbers should be enough to put him over the top, especially with LeBron James out of the picture. Then again, that’s not what the majority of experts believe.

For most, the only logical choice this season should be Nikola Jokic, as he’s played in every single game, is posting great numbers and is leading his team to a top-5 spot in the Western Conference.

And, while that may be enough to convince a lot of people, Fox Sports’ Nick Wright isn’t like most of us. According to him, the Denver Nuggets star would be the worst MVP in over three decades.

Nick Wright Says Nikola Jokic Will Be The Worst MVP In 35 Years

“The MVP will happen to be awarded in some hallway somewhere because he’s not playing in round 2 and 3. And in the macro-wide, when you look at the league of MVPs over history – I say this with respect to Jokic – historically speaking, he would be the worst one we’ve had in 35 years. Chris Paul wouldn’t be. Chris Paul is an all-time great player. Nikola Jokic is having a very good season and is a very good player. But when you look at who’s won the MVPs? Oh, it’s Giannis, it’s Steph, it’s LeBron, it’s Durant, it’s Rose pre-injury… and then Nikola Jokic. Oh okay. That must have been a weird season,” Wright said on Fox Sports’ First Things First.

Out of all of Wright’s questionable takes, this must be one of the worst. I mean, I get it, Chris Paul should be in the MVP conversation for his impact with the Phoenix Suns but his numbers aren’t MVP-worthy.

Nikola Jokic, on the other hand, is averaging 26.4 points, 10.9 rebounds, 8.4 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 three-pointers per game on 56/40/85 shooting splits while not missing a single game this season.

Jokic has cemented himself as one of the league’s top-tier big men and is one of the best passers ever. So yeah, I’m sorry, Nick, but there’s just no way we can side with you on this terrible take.
