The Golden State Warriorsare in a tough position right now. The NBA season is just around the corner and they may not have their full roster for their home games, as Andrew Wiggins refuses to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

The city of San Francisco has mandated that all student-athletes above 12 years old get vaccinated to play indoors. If Wiggins refuses to do so, not only he’ll lose a lot of money but he’ll also take a huge toll on his team’s ability to compete at the highest level.

Needless to say, plenty of people have called him out for his stance. But, as we previously reported, the former first-overall pick says that he just won’t change his mind regarding this controversial subject.

Andrew Wiggins Says He Doesn’t Care About Money

“While he admitted that his “back is definitely against the wall,” he’s going to “keep fighting” for what he believes. “I’m confident in my beliefs and what I think is right and what I think is wrong,” he said, and added that his teammates have been giving him “love and support.”

Andre Iguodala Gets Brutally Honest On Andrew Wiggins’ Stance

Warriors veteran Andre Iguodala stood by his side, not because he agrees with him or his views on the COVID-19 vaccine but because he believes that the media is being unfair with him right now:

“I think we all have to do our homework a little bit better. That’s for all of us,” Iguodala said, as quoted by CBS Sports. “I’ve been upset reading about Andrew Wiggins because it’s painting the wrong picture. We’re in a day and age now where perception can become reality. And the perception that’s going on about him is hurting his value and ultimately can affect the wealth that he accumulates, which is totally unfair.”

“If you do your homework the way it should be done, you understand there’s people who have an excuse and there’s people who have actual values. He’s a guy that has values, and he’s the type of guy I’ll stand by. He’s the type of guy I’ll risk being around the situation. I’m vaccinated and I have an understanding about this, and he has a different understanding, but his understanding is something that I truly respect, and I have a value for how he sees life. He’s the type of guy that I support the whole way. Hopefully, we can find a solution,” the former Finals MVP concluded.

It doesn’t seem like Wiggins is going to change his mind and that could put his status in jeopardy for the first portion of the season. The Warriors could even consider trading him if he doesn’t cave in.
