Bucks player locks in $12M deal while Giannis’ future remains uncertain

One of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s teammates from last season just secured a $12 million deal that gives him some peace of mind. He’s young, full of potential, and now has his future settled—unlike Milwaukee Bucks’s biggest star, whose decision still hangs in the balance.

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future with the Milwaukee Bucks remains undecided, but one of his young teammates has locked in financial security for the next three years after signing a $12 million deal that will keep him with the team.

While all eyes are on Antetokounmpo’s looming decision, there’s still no clarity on his next move. He remains under Bucks contract, but if he chooses, he could eventually take his talents elsewhere.

“My sense is, just from conversations around the league, I don’t think anything will be decided on his end until August or September, ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne said on NBA Today. “Big deals or anything like that—whether he goes or stays—that kind of decision won’t come until later in the summer.”

So who’s the teammate that just signed a new deal?

That would be Ryan Rollins, who will earn $12 million over the next three seasons. Rollins joined the Bucks during the 2023-24 season after his stint with Washington and entered this offseason as a free agent aiming to secure a new contract.

“Rollins, a 2022 second-rounder, joined the Bucks on a two-way contract in Feb. 2024 and spent most of 2024-25 on a two-way before receiving a standard deal in March. He opted for a rest-of-season contract, became an unrestricted free agent and now is rewarded with a $12M deal,” reported Shams Charania on X.

Rollins made the most of his opportunity

Rollins had a solid individual NBA campaign, averaging 6.2 points per game across 56 appearances with the Bucks. It marked the most games he’s played in a single season, and he also posted career highs in assists (1.9 per game) and minutes played (14.6), showing promising development alongside Milwaukee’s core.
