Andy Reid knows he might be heading into one of the most competitive seasons the NFL has seen in years. With his eyes once again set on the ultimate goal—taking the Kansas City Chiefs as far as possible—it will be crucial to surround Patrick Mahomes with the right pieces. A former Super Bowl champion has been added to the roster to help fulfill that mission and keep the Chiefs in the contender conversation.

Most recently part of the Houston Texans’ practice squad, Tremayne Anchrum arrives in Missouri as a new option to help protect the quarterback. The talented offensive guard already knows what it’s like to hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

The former Clemson standout once protected Trevor Lawrence during his college football days, and later blocked for Matthew Stafford with the Rams—earning a Super Bowl LVI title in 2022 after defeating the Cincinnati Bengals.

In addition to the previously mentioned teams, Anchrum also had brief stints with the Seattle Seahawks and New Orleans Saints, where he was unable to secure a prominent role. Now entering a new chapter in his career, the OG will look to rediscover the form that once made him a promising NFL prospect.

The latest news is that both Keaontay Ingram and wide receiver Justin Lockhart have been cut in recent hours, meaning their time in Missouri is no longer a certainty. Ingram, the running back, was placed on injured reserve after clearing waivers on Friday.

Despite these recent moves, Mahomes still has key weapons on offense to maintain his powerful attack heading into the upcoming season.

What to expect from the Chiefs next season?

The Kansas City Chiefs‘ primary goal for next season is to return to the Super Bowl. With Patrick Mahomes at the helm and a potent offense, they’ll rely on their star trio—Mahomes, Andy Reid, and Travis Kelce—to lead them back to the biggest stage in football.
