The Miami Dolphins visit the Chicago Bears as part of their NFL preseason schedule. Both teams have quarterbacks with many eyeballs on them so the question is obvious. Will we see either Caleb Williams or Tua Tagovailoa play at least some snaps?
Per the team’s website, Bears head coach Ben Johnson said that most starters will not play against Miami, and that includes Caleb Williams. In fact, Johnson even confirmed that quarterback Tyson Bagent will be playing. Bagent “hopefully take us through that first half. We’ll see how the snaps go, though,” Johnson said.
Ben Johnson is expected to not risk the Bears‘ star players then. However, he assured the team will have a “good throwing session with Caleb and the pass catchers” early Sunday morning at Soldier Field.
Will Tua see some action?
Given the lengthy injury history that Tua has, it’s shocking that he hasn’t been discarded for this game by coach Mike McDaniel. Sean Neumann of Pro Football Network has said that “Tagovailoa could conceivably play a series or two, but backup quarterback Zach Wilson will likely get an extended look in the first half.”

Tua Tagovailoa #1 of the Miami Dolphins smiles during warmups before the game against the San Francisco 49ers at Hard Rock Stadium on December 22, 2024 in Miami Gardens, Florida.
However, it seems that most sarters will either play a drive or two or flat out sit the game. Tyreek Hill is dealing with an oblique injury as well. This team has been seriously injury-prone so taking care of their players should be priority number one.

How did Williams and Tua fare at joint practice?
Bears and Fins had a shared training session. Let’s just say the quarterbacks were night and day as to how they played. Tagovailoa had arguably his worst day of camp as he threw three interceptions, including one in the red zone.
As for Williams, he torched the Dolphins‘ starting secondary. While it all started with an interception, the second-year quarterback bounced back. This includes a 70-yard bomb for Olamide Zaccheaus that ended as a touchdown.
