Brock Purdy already has his long-term deal in place, and now another one of his 49ers teammates just secured a major extension of his own—one that makes him one of the highest-paid defenders in the NFL.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, linebacker Fred Warner has agreed to a three-year, $63 million contract extension with the 49ers. The new deal locks him in through the next few seasons and solidifies his place as a leader on San Francisco’s defense.

Warner, who was set to earn nearly $20 million in the 2024 season, will continue to make a similar annual salary under the new contract. The extension also includes a massive $56 million in guaranteed money, ensuring financial stability for one of the game’s elite linebackers.

Experience to Support the 49ers’ Title Push

While Warner doesn’t share the field with Purdy on offense, his presence is key to protecting the team’s overall advantage—especially when it comes to maintaining leads late in games, something the defense struggled with at times last season.

The 2023 NFL campaign may not have ended the way the 49ers hoped, but Warner remained a dominant force. He earned his third consecutive Pro Bowl and All-Pro selections, appearing in all 17 games and recording 131 combined tackles—another consistent season from one of the league’s most reliable defenders.

Fred Warner’s Career Earnings So Far

To date, Warner has earned $65,076,901 over the course of his career. With this new extension, he’s on pace to double that number—and could surpass the $100 million mark within the next two seasons, all while playing exclusively for the 49ers.
