The underwhelming campaign of last year is behind the Dallas Cowboys, and that’s why all eyes are on what will happen in the 2025 NFL season. With the sole goal of becoming contenders again, Jerry Jones took charge of making an important decision regarding one of his top stars, CeeDee Lamb.

According to the information, the franchise led by Jones opted to make a significant restructuring of the talented wide receiver’s contract, thus creating $20 million of salary-cap space, with the sole purpose of adding more depth to the roster.

The news was reported by ESPN NFL Nation Reporter Todd Archer, who, through his official X (formerly Twitter) account @toddarcher, reported the situation involving the former Pro Bowler and his contractual situation with the Cowboys.

The main goal of the Dallas Cowboys

A lot of time has passed since the Dallas Cowboys were one of those contending teams, not only in their division but also in the league in general. This is why, from Jerry Jones on down, many important decisions have been made to get the franchise back on track.

One of the main decisions made was to part ways with Mike McCarthy as head coach and give way to a familiar face in the franchise, Brian Schottenheimer. The former OC will have his first experience as the head of the group, so his development in the role remains an unknown.

The restructuring of Lamb’s contract has the main goal of opening up salary cap space and giving the staff the opportunity to explore other options to strengthen positions that struggled last season.

The Cowboys share a division with none other than the reigning NFL champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, and even the Commanders, one of the pleasant surprises from last season. Because of this, it’s known that the road won’t be easy, and they can’t afford to leave anything to chance if they want to have a solid performance heading into the upcoming season.
