The Detroit Lions aim to be contenders once again in the NFL, and for that, they will need a roster capable of meeting the challenge. While some players are no longer part of the franchise, both Dan Campbell and Jared Goff can rest assured knowing that new weapons are joining the team to strengthen it in the best possible way.

The latest reports confirm the arrival of tight end Kenny Yeboah, who comes from the AFC East, specifically from the New York Jets. The former Ole Miss player joins to strengthen Jared Goff’s offense.

The news was reported by The Detroit Times via their official X (formerly Twitter) account @the_det_times, who announced the arrival of the talented TE to Dan Campbell’s roster.

“The #Lions have signed TE Kenny Yeboah on a one year deal, per @davebirkett,” it was reported through social media. In this way, the Lions are slowly starting to strengthen their roster, especially on offense.

Since his arrival in the NFL in 2021, Yeboah has totaled nine catches for 111 yards and one touchdown. In nine games last season, the veteran TE had five catches for 47 yards and a score.

Strengthening the tight end department

Lions QB Jared Goff has proven to be a versatile quarterback, constantly seeking different options throughout the season to reach his opponents’ end zone. The tight end position is often one of his go-to options, so the arrival of Yeboah further expands this range of alternatives.

Their top representative in this position is Sam LaPorta, one of the key figures in the offense. Since his arrival in the league, LaPorta has notched 146 receptions, 1,615 yards, and 17 touchdowns.

In addition, since 2021, they have had former Notre Dame Fighting Irish player Brock Wright, who can also perform as a fullback during games.

Also, it’s worth noting that starting this season, they will have a new coach in this department. Tyler Roehl, who was the Iowa State assistant head coach and running backs coach, has arrived to replace Steve Heiden, who left for the New York Jets.
