The New England Patriots set the standard for a winning franchise over the past two decades in the NFL. There, Bill Belichick established himself as one of the greatest head coaches in football history.
Some people claimed that the Patriotsâ success was all due to Belichick and went as far as to say that Tom Brady was a âsystem quarterbackâ. Now, on his first year without Belichick, Brady is back to the Super Bowl, while the Patriots didnât even make the playoffs.
Needless to say, this season has shifted the narrative back in Bradyâs favor. Moreover, former Patriots players have been quite outspoken on who was the man responsible for their success.
Danny Amendola Says The PatriotWay Is Tom Bradyâs Way
After Rob Gronkowski said that he couldnât be himself with the Patriots and Tom Bradyâs wife Gisele Bundchen said the Belichick didnât respect him, now Danny Amendola said that âThe Patriot way is the Brady wayâ:
âWhen you see âPatriot Wayâ in the dictionary, itâs going to have Tom Bradyâs pic next to it. None of those coaches threw any passes. None of those coaches caught any passes. None of those coaches made any tackles. They got guys in the right position because they watch a lot of film and they spend all their time at the facility. But Tom Brady is the Patriot Way, and thatâs the reason why Tom Bradyâs in the Super Bowl right now and the Patriots arenât,â Amendola told First Things First.
Amendola Says Playing For Bill Belichick Is Tough
The two-time Super Bowl champion added that Bill Belichickâs personality and leadership style can be challenging at times but added that he respected his coachbecause it made the team better:
âItâs not easy, thatâs for sure. Heâs an a**hole sometimes. There were a lot of things I didnât like about playing for him, but I must say, the things I didnât like were all in regards to getting the team better, and I respected him,â Amendola concluded.
Well, it wouldnât be fair to take anything away from Belichick and all the things heâs accomplished throughout his career in the league. Then again, he couldâve handled his stars better.
